Warts are raised, dark, fleshy protrusions that develop on the skin or mucosa. They occur because of a viral infection called Human Papilloma Virus. 

They are contagious and can spread from person to person, as well as from one site on your body to another. They must be treated as soon as possible to prevent further spread.
